During the morning, Tracy shared the following verse with us: There’s a private place reserved for the lovers of God, where they sit near him and receive the revelation-secrets of his promises. Psalm 25:14 (TPT) At one point in the morning, we were encouraged to find ...

God of the Second Chance

Image
If you would like to listen to this devotional, please click   here Dear Friends, God of the Second Chance I'm so glad God is a God of second chances. Actually. not just God of second chances, but also third, fourth and so on chances. You see, there are times when I fail God, when I  make mistakes, when I deliberately go my own way. But God never ever gives up on me. he pursues a relationship with me, that I might have the joy which comes from loving, knowing and serving him. We see an example of this in the life of Jonah, one of his prophets in the Old Testament. Before we look into this, would you just read the first chapter from the book of Jonah for yourself. (To read it click  here ) These are some of the things I've learned from Jonah: 1. God's call to Jonah. "The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai". Jonah 1:1  (HCSB) God knew exactly who he was calling. He knew his name. God calls you and me by name too. He kno...

Book Review: Isaiah's Daughter by Mesu Andrews

Image
Dear Friends, I was drawn to and interested in reading "Isaiah's Daughter", Mesu Andrews' latest biblical fiction novel, because I’ve already read a couple of her books, and she has become one of my favourite authors. I enjoy reading biblical fiction by various writers and learning more about the context and the culture of Bible times. I also like to read and study the Bible and I find that Mesu Andrews’ novels help to bring the Bible to life.  Mesu spends time researching for the content of her books. Her book includes what we know from the Bible, what Mesu has learned from the Jewish Midrash and her God-given imagination. She expertly weaves everything together to create an enjoyable and informative read.  The idea of Hephzibah being the daughter of Isaiah comes from Jewish tradition and Mesu expands on this to bring the story of Hephzibah to life.  There is a beautiful conversation between Ishma (the name given her at birth, but which is late...

Book Review: The Power of Seven by Emily Owen

Image
Dear Friends, I recently watched an episode of Living Transformed Lives on TBN UK in which Emily Owen was interviewed. Her testimony is such an encouraging one and I emailed her to thank her for sharing it.  Having heard her speak I was interested in reading her latest book, "The Power of Seven: 49 devotional reflections, 7 biblical themes, Genesis to Revelation” and she kindly sent me a free copy in return for an honest review.  Coming from the understanding that seven is a biblically significant number Emily chose to explore it more for herself. This devotional book is based on what she learned. There are seven sections in her book, each one concentrates on a particular theme surrounding the number seven.  The first section is Creation and each devotional in this section looks at one of the seven days of creation. The other sections focus on: God is; The Lord is my shepherd; I Am; Echoes from the cross; Add to faith; and the final section, Revelation Ch...
