I just couldn't get to grips with it. When we had listening tests the words seemed to be spoken so quickly and run into each other that I just couldn't understand. (I guess those who don't speak English probably have the same difficulties with our language!) I also had a lot of difficulties when it came to translating a written piece into English. How much easier it would have been if I had had someone sitting next to me who was fluent in the language and could translate for me so that I could understand. Dear Friends, I waited in hope for a devotional I had submitted online to be accepted.  The previous one had been accepted so I was hopeful that this one would also be accepted.  Surely they would like what I had written?  Yet hope dwindled as time went by and I had received no response.  The deadline for hearing back from them had passed.  With the passing of time, hope left me. I was so disappointed. I had really hoped to hear a yes from them.  There were brief moments when I was able to think objectively.  When I was able to tell myself, "That's OK.  What I had written did not meet their requirements this time.  It wasn't needed because it didn't fit with the direction they wanted to take. It's alright.  I can try again another time."  However, my heart was saying something else and I began to have doubts and fears: I'd been so sure God had given me a gift to write.  I ...
